Korean Version of the Short Falls Efficacy Scale-International (FES-I): Study of Validity and Reliability

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and test the validity reliability Korean version short Falls Efficacy Scale-International (FES-I).Methods: FES-I developed through translation protocol. Participants for psychometric tests included 300 older adults (100 visiting a senior welfare center, 100 registered as frail elderly in public health an orthopedic department at university hospital after hip-fracture surgery). content, construct, criterion validity, internal consistency, test-retest reliability.Results: One factor seven items validated explained by 79.4% total variance. Confirmatory analysis supported model fit convergent validity. Mean scores according fall history were also significantly different. Correlation confirmed with single item fear falling (r=.76, p<.001). There reliable consistencies Cronbach’s α coefficients .95 and, .93, ICC (Intra-class Coefficient) .95.Conclusion: This scale showed excellent Korea. It is useful measure clinical or community settings.
